Bridge Fees: Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cheapest crypto bridge?
There is no single cheapest bridge. What a transfer costs depends on the route, the token, the amount and the gas prices at the moment you send, and every bridge prices differently: Celer cBridge charges a base fee plus a 0–2% protocol fee, Stargate V2 sets a dynamic fee per route, and Across charges an LP fee plus a relayer fee. That is why the calculator fetches live quotes for your exact transfer and ranks them by total cost instead of relying on a fixed list.
Fee structure of each bridge →How are bridge fees calculated?
You pay the bridge's own fee (a percentage, a flat amount, or LP and relayer fees), gas for the transaction on the source chain, and the cost of executing it on the destination chain, which is often built into a relayer fee. Aggregators such as LI.FI add their own service fee on top. The calculator ranks routes by this total — provider fee plus source and destination gas — not by the headline fee.
Bridge fees explained →How long does it take to bridge crypto?
It depends on how the bridge works. Intent-based bridges such as Across have a relayer fill your transfer from its own capital, so you do not wait for cross-chain verification. Celer cBridge's FAQ says most of its transfers take 5–20 minutes. Withdrawals from a rollup back to Ethereum through its native bridge take days: about a week from Arbitrum One or OP Mainnet. The calculator shows the estimated time of every quote next to its cost.
Why do withdrawals from Arbitrum or Optimism take 7 days?
Arbitrum One and OP Mainnet are optimistic rollups: their state is posted to Ethereum and treated as valid unless someone challenges it within a fixed window, and the native bridge only releases your funds on Ethereum after that window closes. Arbitrum's docs give a 6.4-day challenge period and about a week in total; OP Mainnet's give 7 days. Base has shortened its window to 5 days, or 1 day when both of its proof systems back the state. Third-party bridges avoid the wait by paying you out on Ethereum from their own liquidity, for a fee, which is why they show up in the calculator for L2 → Ethereum routes.
Bridging from an L2 back to Ethereum →Are crypto bridges safe?
Every bridge adds trust assumptions on top of the two chains it connects: who confirms that your deposit happened, and what happens if they are wrong. Some bridges rely on a set of external validators or guardians, some on an optimistic challenge period, and native rollup bridges on Ethereum itself. Next to each quote, the calculator names the bridge's security model where we have checked it against the bridge's own documentation, so you can weigh price against risk.
What to check before a large transfer →Do I need to connect my wallet?
No. BridgeFees.com only compares and explains. You never connect a wallet, sign a transaction or create an account here; when you pick a route, you complete the transfer on the bridge's own site.
Are the rankings paid?
No. Routes are ordered by the live quote math alone, and no provider can buy a higher position. We add no affiliate or referral parameters to bridge links; the site is funded by display ads.
